DESCRIPTION:  \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSupporting Muslim clients impacted by Racism and Islamophobia using cultural intelligence (CQ) \n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nWhy do we need to attend to our client’s culture and our own cultural background in community services?\nWhat tools can we use to hear client’s stories in the context of their cultural background and lived experience?\nWhat is the psycho-social impact of racism and Islamophobia?\nHow do we support the development of cultural intelligence within our organisation?\nYou are cordially invited to join us for a highly interactive and thought-provoking workshop to discuss strategies to better understand Muslim clients when they require case management and advocacy after incidents of Racism and Islamophobia.\n\nThis workshop has been designed for community service providers. This may include professionals working in community health\, case management\, community engagement\, settlement services\, neighbourhood and housing services\, and community centres.\n\nCQ WORKSHOP OVERVIEW\n1. Nasihah\, by the way\, is an Arabic\, Turkish\, Indonesian and Malay word meaning ‘To give sincere advice’. Monique is a French / Latin name meaning counsellor/advisor. Some things were just destined to be. She has delivered psychological services and personal development programs to culturally\, religiously\, and linguistically diverse clients and organisations working within multicultural contexts for the past 25 years.\n\nMonique is a Registered Psychologist and certified Cultural Intelligence (CQ) Advisor (USA) and has trained staff from over 360 organisations in cultural competence. For 6 years she was the Lead Lecturer of Multicultural Counselling and Culture and Psychology at the Australian Catholic University and is a regular guest lecturer at universities both nationally and internationally. She has also delivered organisational training programs in Turkey\, Indonesia\, and Malaysia.\nIn 2021 she featured in the Amazon Prime Video docuseries titled UNHEARD\, which investigated racism in Australia and in 2019 delivered ‘Culture eats individuality for breakfast’ at TEDx Docklands. She is often invited by ABC news to provide psychological insights on a range of topics from mental health to multiculturalism.
